Dr. Steven R. Budoff

Psychiatrist

“I set out on a path that would make a difference in the world and the lives of others,” says Dr. Steven Budoff, Founder of Psychiatric and Behavioral Health Solutions.

And he’s done just that. Dr. Budoff’s dedication to serving has no bounds. A well-respected and dedicated psychiatrist, he has served patients throughout the tristate area for the past three decades.

He founded Psychiatric and Behavioral Health Solutions and works in private practices in Summit and East Brunswick and community agencies and programs in Bound Brook, Flemington, Oceanport and Lumberton. He is also the Co-founder and Co-Director of SRB Philanthropy Corp., a charitable 501-c-3 organization that provides scholarships and support to individuals pursuing a career in mental health.

His road to medicine followed his consideration of various paths, including music, business, and law. He studied at Wharton, earned his MBA at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and was admitted to several law schools. Still,  he realized that neither business nor law were the professions where he would make his mark.

“I knew that I could truly affect others by becoming a doctor,” he says. What followed was his admission to NY College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his internship and residency, he accepted a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. His practice grew way beyond Geriatrics and now includes patients of all ages.

Beyond his commitment to service, he is a role model and motivator, inspiring those with whom he works and those with whom he collaborates to make a difference. He serves as a collaborator for many Advanced Practice Nurses throughout New Jersey in addition to the four who are now part of the P and BHS practice.

The epitome of his commitment to service is his work with soldiers suffering from PTSD. Dr. Budoff stepped up and enlisted as a reservist in the Army Medical Corps as a commissioned officer serving those participating in Operation Noble Eagle, which was launched immediately following 9/11. First, as the U.S. improvised response and then a temporary means to the country’s permanent defense requirement, Operation Noble Eagle involved a major commitment by the military and professionals in various civilian departments and agencies. During this engagement, he rose to the rank of Major. He served at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg in North Carolina and New Jersey-based Fort Knox.

Despite a full practice schedule, he makes time to give back to the community. In the past, he has been active in the United Nations Chapter of Kiwanis International. He continues to be active in the Jewish Community by supporting events and projects and raising mental health awareness throughout the tri-state area.
